Singapore is located on the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia which is between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. The neighboring countries of Singapore are Indonesia and Malaysia.
As of June 2014 the population of Singapore is 5.47 million. Singapore’s population is growing so slowly. As of 2011 life expectancy for male is 80.1 and female is 84.6. Singapore has the fourth best life expectancy rate in the world.

Singapore’s main territory is a diamond shaped island and its territory includes smaller islands. The highest point of Singapore is Bukit Timah and most of Singapore is no more than 15 meters above sea level.

There are many ways to travel by in Singapore. The first way is by a train. Singapore’s MRT (mass rapid transit) system is the fastest way to get around the city. The second way is by a taxi. The third way is by a bus. Singapore’s bus system covers most places in Singapore.

Singapore’s climate is hot, humid, tropical, rainy; two monsoon seasons, Northeastern monsoon (December to March) and Southwestern monsoon (June to September). If you were to visit Singapore, you might want to go in June, July and August. This is because you are less likely to have high humidity and heavy rainfall. The heaviest rainfall is between November through January. The average temperatures in Singapore are around 87 degrees Fahrenheit.

In Singapore, most of the people came from the Malay Peninsula, China and the Indian subcontinent and Sri Lanka. Even though there is mix of culture, Singapore still remains their customs, practices and festivals in mix of both modern and the traditional. For Singaporeans, they go barefoot inside their homes to show respect. For Chinese, numbers 2, 6, and 8 are lucky numbers and 4 is a bad number associated with death. For Muslims, they don’t eat pork or drink alcohol and they fast between dawn and dusk during Ramadan. For Hindus, they don’t eat beef at all and some are strict vegetarians. Some national and regional holidays celebrated in Singapore are Labour Day, Vesak, End of Ramadan, National Day, Hari Raya Haji, Deepavali and Christmas Day.

Singapore is made up of several ethnic groups. The main is Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Eurasians. Noodles and rice are some staple foods. Some unique dishes are Halnan Chicken Rice which is served with rice, soy sauce, broth, cilantro and chili paste. Satay is another unique dish which is grilled with meat seasoned with local spices.
Singapore’s currency is the Singapore Dollar. The minor unit is 1/100=cent and 1 SGD = 0.75038 USD. One US dollar is 1.33266 Singapore dollar.

Boat Quay is the fifth most visited location. In Singapore you can find old colonial buildings that make up the foundation of the city but you can also find new skyscrapers. In Sentosa you can find a lot of attractions, museums and a lot of variety of things. In Little India you can find a lot of good indian restaurants and shopping malls. In Clarke Quay you can find restaurants, concept bars, retail stores and recreation outlets. In Boat Quay you can find many bars, spas and restaurants offering from local, seafood to international cuisines.

The major religions in Singapore are Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism. Christianity is considered one of the main 4 religions. 42.5% is Buddhist, 14.9% is Islam, 14.8% is non religious/other, 14.6% is Christian and 4% is Hindu.
