Currency: The currency of India is Indian rupees.
Food: Roti which is like wheat bread is a staple throughout the Indian culture. Indian curry is also really popular and are different kinds of them. Such as vegetable, egg, fish and meat in a spicy sauce. Indian meals are usually really spicy and onions are used in most dishes.
Cultures: Hinduism, sikhism, buddhism and jainism were all born in India. 81 percent of Indians are hindu and Hinduism is a polytheistic religion. There are multiple gods like Krishna, Ram, Shiva, Durga, etc.
Major Cities: The major cities in India are Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Pune and Jaipur.
Transportation: Roads in major cities are usually well developed but in some places the roads may be unpaved. Buses are the main way of traveling from one place to another and people have been getting more cars. People also use a scooter to travel, rickshaw, tanga and taxis.
Sports Team: The most popular sports in India are cricket, field hockey and soccer is getting popular.
Weather: The weather in India varies where you live. In the Thar Desert the climate is very hot and sometimes can get up to 120 degrees fahrenheit. Whereas on the Himalayas the climate can get below freezing point. The other parts of the country is mostly hot from March to May. The monsoon season last from June to September and winters last from October to February.
Geographical Location in the World: India is the seventh largest country in the world and lies on the Indian plate. The Indian subcontinent is surrounded by three different water bodies and it covers an area of 3.28 million square kilometers.
Population: The population of India is 1,236,344,631. China is the only country who has more people than India. India’s “middle class” is about as large as the entire population of the United States.
Customs: India celebrates Republic Day on January 26 and Independence Day on August 15. India also celebrates Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on October 2.
Holidays: India has so many holidays which includes people singing, dancing, wearing new clothes and preparing lots of food. One of the fun festivals is Holi which welcomes Spring and is played with powdered color. Another festival is Diwali which is a festival of lights. People celebrate this holiday by putting up lights in their homes, wearing new clothes, setting of fireworks and giving sweets.
